About CONVR
The International Conference on Construction Applications of Virtual Reality (CONVR) was initiated by Prof. Nashwan Dawood from Teesside University. The conference focuses on the fields of Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) which are forward-looking technologies that offer considerable potential benefits in all stages of the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) process, from initial planning and conceptual design to facility management and operations. Although the name of the conference has "Virtual Reality" as the keyword, it actually covers a much broader range of visualization-related topics beyond VR, which makes this subject applicable to a wider range of audiences and will have a broader impact years go on.
The first CONVR was held in Middlesbrough in 2000. By 2012, the conference has brought together more than 100 scholars and industry professionals from over 15 different countries around the world. The contributions from the worldwide participants at CONVR provide a major platform for delegates to exchange views and information, which makes the conference a truly dynamic experience. Moreover, the guest speakers invited to the conference each year, keynote the latest trends on visualization and applications.
In addition, CONVR has attracted much attention and recognition among research and professional communities involved in all parts of the AEC industry. The strong organizing committees review over a hundred abstracts each year and select a few of the strong entries that highlight the most current research and practices in advanced visualization technologies. The quality papers truly capture the quintessence of CONVR goals and certainly challenge and inspire readers to push the boundaries of the field.
